Dr. Philip Losco will host his first annual Dentistry From The Heart (DFTH) event – providing a day of free dental care for up to 75 patients 18 years and older. The line will begin as early as 7:00 AM, with patients prepared to camp out in order to receive free services. Dentistry From The Heart patients will travel from Indiana and Westmoreland counties to Dr. Losco’s Blairsville dental practice for the annual free day of dentistry, happening on Friday, May 13th, 2011.

The event is co-sponsored by United Concordia Dental, one of the nation’s largest dental insurers. “At United Concordia Dental, we take the oral health of the communities we serve seriously,” said Woody Greene, community outreach coordinator for United Concordia Dental. “That’s why we help provide free dental education and services to children and adults at events such as this one. We decided to partner with Dentistry From The Heart and Dr. Philip Losco because of the close alignment of our community service missions. We are each focused on providing free dental care to individuals with minimal or no insurance.”

S&T Bank is also supporting our efforts to provide the community with free dental care. S&T Bank has strong ties to the Blairsville area and supports many community activities. By adding their support we are able to provide care to more patients and give them a healthier smile.

Dr. Losco has recently relocated his office to a larger facility located at 155 East Market Street in Blairsville and is now able to host an event of this type. “Patterson Dental has designed for us an office that can accommodate the staff, volunteers and the patients that we expect for this event,” said Dr. Losco. “Patterson Dental is also supporting our event by supplying us with disposables for the day. We will start seeing patients at 8:00 AM and continue until 4:30PM. We expect to provide the first 75 patients with a free extraction, filling or cleaning.”

“It all comes down to wanting to give back to the community that supports us throughout the year,” said Dr. Losco. “The services provided by Dentistry From The Heart helps more than just a patients teeth, it gives them a renewed reason to smile.”

In 2001, Dentistry From The Heart started with New Port Richey dentist Dr. Vincent Monticciolo as a way of giving back to the community and provide aid to the growing number of Americans without dental insurance. Dentistry From The Heart is a registered non-profit organization that provides free dental work to those in need. In the past ten years, Dentistry From The Heart events have contributed more than $10 million in free dentistry and helped more than 50,000 patients across the country.
