A wise man once said that every journey begins with the first step. Another wise man said that you should never treat a stranger. In order to have a successful journey to dental health our first step is to try to get to know our patients. Every patient has a story, and I enjoy learning their dental story to find out how you arrived where you are today and what brings you to us for care. I will listen to your cares and concerns so that, together, we can create a treatment plan that is right for you.
Our first visit together will last approximately one hour. We will review your medical and dental history form that you received when you scheduled your appointment. Then we will move to the examination room. During the clinical examination not only will we examine the teeth and gums, but we will also do an oral cancer examination, evaluate your bite and your jaw joints (TMJ). We may also recommend any necessary X-rays or other diagnostic information.
It is important to me that my patients understand their dental conditions and the reasons why they have them. For this reason, I will provide you with an evaluation of your dental conditions, both good and bad, and give you treatment options. I will invite questions and spend time after the examination with explanations. I will ask you what you want, now that you have a better understanding of your dental conditions, and together we will decide upon a plan that fits your needs, desires, schedule and budget.
